All talk (or singing?) and no training

#6 reason for doing the London Marathon: deep down I have always wanted to

#6 fact about M.S: Symptoms can come and go and can vary greatly in terms of severity

What have I been doing if I have not been training? Well, I suppose it is not quite true to say I have done nothing. I am managing to keep up a low level of activity to keep my body from seizing up completely. However I have not seriously started the training programme, though most people tell me that is perfectly fine, and that  if I am starting in January that will be sufficient time to prepare. I suppose, the longer I leave it the less time I have to get injured. Here is the 17 week beginner programme I plan to use. So, I can forget about that for a few weeks.!

Meanwhile, I did at last complete my 50th Parkrun, which was very exciting. For those of you not familiar with this group, it is a wonderful, inclusive 5K run that takes place all over the country (and in some other parts of the world too) at 9am every Saturday morning. After 50 runs you get a t-shirt! It has taken me three years to finally reach this pinnacle due to guess what, INJURIES. (I am not going to say that word again! At least not till next month) and after the run we go and have coffee and cake. Great way to start the weekend

Enough of exercise, now for Fundraising news

The change collection I did for October raised £70. That was nice and easy. In November I planned to sell items on e-bay. Well, I did not manage to post as many items as I had intended. In fact, I only managed one. I have one Jacket sale that is ending tomorrow…so far no bids, but quite a few watchers, so hopefully that will make something for the November pot. For December, I am planning to go carol singing, and I do have some willing singers, but it turns out that I need a license from the police, and it is possible that I have left this too late. If so I will have to think of something else. I do believe that son Sam is planning something exciting, so perhaps that will count! Check how my fundraising is going here

I mentioned that I had been singing. One of the reasons that my training was on hold was due to commitments to the Gamesmaker Choir. Earlier this month we sang at Twickenham Stadium for an important England v South Africa rugby match. This meant a lot of extra rehearsals and hence less time to train. It was hugely exciting to sing anthems on the pitch as well as entertain the crowd before the game and during half time.

Long time no blog

#5 reason for doing the London Marathon:because there is no reason not to
#5 fact about M.S: It is a disease affecting the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord)

You may be wondering where I have been…blogwise and physically. Well, I have been away Went to Bruges one weekend, then to Liverpool. These trips did not involve any running or training as such although I  was doing a lot of walking and a lot of thinking about training.  However,my training is sort of on hold…have been dealing with a number of niggles that my physio assures me are not serious, but I find them a bit worrying as I would dearly love to start training injury free. This may just not be possible! I am getting to the gym to do strengthening, swimming and spin classes so hopefully as long as I can keep my fitness up I will be good to start training in earnest next month.

My fundraising activity for October was to count up all the random money in the jar in the kitchen. Rick and Sarah did start to do this for me..then Sarah decided it would be easier to get it done at the bank and she is going to do that for me, so you will to wait for the results of that…bet you are really excited!

So, now it is  is November!! (I have decided to rename it YESVEMBER. I need to be feeling more positive about my chances of completing this challenge!) My fundraising activity is to sell stuff on ebay..stuff that has been lurking under my desk for quite a while, so double whammy, de-clutter, raise money.
